Realistic tiger head study. This was easier for me than drawing a traditional tattoo style tiger head, go figure. First time using stipple paper, it doesn't scan very well, at least in my scanner.

Referance photo here: [link]

Done with prismacolor pencils on stipple paper.

I find that the blue found in this picture gives the tiger a more Realistic feel to it.

Light does change color, so does snow... so why not fur? =]
I like it better and find this more professional looking _with_ the blue included.

I know in professional water color books they suggest adding odd colors like green, purple, blue etc. So what difference does it have to make with Colored Pencils?

Same can be said with most type of traditional mediums, like Oil Paints for example. Professionals include a wide range/variety of colors to bring the most simple pictures come to life;

whether it's a living subject or a still picture like the Grand Canyon. :shrug:s

I love how I can feel & hear the tiger snarling at me. The details are amazing ... the paper's texture only adding to the impact.

The fur's detail is spot (or stripe) on! I long to just reach out and pet it even though I may as well be doomed to be 'eaten' by it.

I have to agree that you brought a thorough blend of combined color, shading, and detail along with composition/technique!

When I had first glimpsed this breathtaking picture I had though that this was a photo that could easily be in the National Geographic magazine! Seriously I mean... Wow:wow:!

I've done a snarling tiger myself using pastels but when I look at mine versus this? Mine falls to the wayside and I'm not trying to just sing 'praises' :nod:

I highly enjoy this excellent and more than professional quality picture!

If you make this a print I just may end up saving my money for the largest size - 'tis a promise!

:D Keep up the stunningly gorgeous art! I hope to see more!

It all depends on the 'eye of the beholder' ^_~ I wholeheartedly rate this all 5:iconrainbowstarplz:!

As mentioned in many of the comments, the artist utilized an excellent use of color and shading. The composition of the work exhibits a good balance with no empty areas or awkward appearing details. It is very realistic and the pose and appearance of the subject is what could be expected. There are areas of light bluing in the fur which may have been a result of scanning the image. This is the only real issue that is obvious. In spite of that fact; the quality and detail of the image is very high and suggests that the work was done by a professional.
